Lifelong Experience

Growing up in a family deeply embedded in the machining business since 1965 I was around machining since childhood. From working summers during school breaks at my grandfathers shop (Ikonen Tool & Die, Gardner Massachusetts) to current day I am still involved on a daily basis with the designing and building of molds in some capacity.

Though I have had a long history of being a toolroom supervisor of a very modern moldmaking facility my responsibilities have taken on a new role. I am now involved primarily with molds for liquid silicone rubber. My role as Project Manager not only keeps me heavily in touch with the toolroom I once managed but I solely provide all the mold designs for LSR molds and I also now process every mold that I design using state of the art LIM molding machines from Engel and Arburg. This has opened my eyes to a completely new concept in mold design that just couldn’t be imagined in plastics.

The experience gained from designing molds that are as precise as silicone molds coupled with my long history of machining/moldmaking, designing injection/compression/transfer molds gives me complete understanding of all the challenges a toolshop experiences. This knowledge gives me the experience I need and you the confidence that a mold designed by me will meet all your requirements from start to finish.
